Coconut Fibre Dish Washing Brush

Did you know that some scourers contain plastic, especially the ones attached to sponges.

You can now clean off baked on food from your dishes with this plastic-free dish brush made by LoofCo.

It’s made from coconut coir fibre twisted around a recyclable and rustproof metal core. The coconut coir has antibacterial properties, making it ideal for cleaning. The curved brush head design makes it versatile enough for everyday washing-up and robust enough for scrubbing baked -on food. The handle is made from rubber tree wood and is attached to the coconut coir using rust proof iron wire, which is easily recyclable. The whole brush has a useful, integrated, hanging loop.

Each brush measures 20cm x 7cm.

100% vegan.

To use: Rinse thoroughly before first use. Immerse and use in warm water with washing-up liquid/soap. To keep brush fresh between uses, rinse and squeeze out excess water and shake out any food particles. Hang using the string so that it has the chance to dry out between uses. For the first few uses you may notice some loose fibres or ‘dust’ but this will reduce over time. To freshen the brush occasionally soak it in hot water with washing-up liquid and then air dry it. The brush should last for a good few months.

Why I love this bottle brush;

  • Perfect for scrubbing off baked on food.
  • Skillfully hand made in Sri Lanka who are supported and given workers rights.
  • Using coconut coir bristles, instead of plastic, reduces the amount of plastic waste entering our environment and the amount of micro plastics entering our seas.

What is coconut coir? It’s also called coconut fibre or coconut coir fibre and is the fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer coat of a coconut.
